Give A Kid A Sketchbook

Kevin Wasden, illustrator, blogger has a great idea worth spreading: Give a kid a sketchbook.

It's not enough for kids to know about nature, they must also develop their love.  Art is so important because it incorporates children's affect into learning.

Sketchbooks need not be elaborate.  Vetern teachers are familiar with simple books made from regular copoy paper sewn down the middle.  Some paper and a stapler can make a book.  What's important is the paper, something to make marks, and most importantly the permission and suggestion to use a sketchbook.

Sketchbooks can be valuable tools  for encouraging  children to observe and explore their environments.
